Stewardship Committee To help clarify some questions parishioners have voiced regarding this new ministry, let us emphasis that stewardship is not a program but a way of life. Every man, woman, and child is called to care for, and share, God’s gifts. Everything we have, and all that we are, comes to us from God as precious and irreplaceable gifts. The time we have been given here on earth, the skills and talents we have developed, and all of the material possessions come to us from God as generous gifts to be cherished, nurtured, and shared with others. The call to stewardship is a profound, spiritual experience. But it is also very practical, affecting all aspects of our daily lives. The stewardship committee helps the parish to teach stewardship as a way of life that transcends the ordinary formulas of "time, talent, and treasure" and speaks directly to all aspects of our daily lives. Members of the stewardship committee help fellow Catholics grow in their understanding and practice of stewardship. And they help the parish develop human, physical, and financial resources that are urgently needed to carry out the mission of the Church. If we are to truly make stewardship a way of life in our homes, our parishes, and our diocese, we must follow the Lord’s example by calling people together and continuing to point to examples of stewardship in our midst. The Stewardship Committee will meet and develop ways to encourage fellow parishioners to expand there idea of stewardship and how we all can use our gifts. Stewardship is practiced by serving at Mass-lector, sacristan, Eucharistic minister, altar server, usher, choir member-working with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, participating in food drives, volunteering at the Women’s Pregnancy Center, being an active member of Catholic Daughters and Knights of Columbus, teaching or assisting with CCD, The Edge, Life Nights, RCIA, maintaining the landscape, tithing (5-10% of your income) to the church, attending weekday Mass and Eucharistic Adoration, joining Scripture study and prayer groups, sending your children to Holy Cross school and many more ways. The committee will explore more ways to encourage stewardship and to increase participation in the existing ministries. "Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you." Luke 6:38
Please detach and return to church office or put in next week’s collection basket. Yes, I would be interested in serving on the Stewardship Committee.Name: _________________________________ Contact number:__________________________________
